End of Chrissy hols, Taste of Tasmania food festival, back to work, a 41.8 degree day, awful Tassie bush fires, ante-natal classes, yoga for labour classes, Mona Foma festival, finally catching Kate Miller-Heidke live, Australia Day plus an Australia Day Monday public holiday and finally finishing work and taking Maternity Leave. Woop, woop!
January has been a biggie! The following items have brought little rays of January sunshine in a month that an be full of blues and boos despite being bang slap in the middle of Aussie summer.
PureTan Wash-Off Instant Bronzer* - The circle is now complete in my bronzing trilogy. Once a week mega-tan with Santorini, a less messy mid week top up with Eco-Tan, then this instant gel buffs on to my legs and puts back what the razor may have taken off plus gives a good sheen (not sparkle) and evens out skin tone (very good news for blotchy veiny preggy legs that resemble ham hocks). The Puretan Pro Self-Tan Application Mitt is super velvet plush and is great for buffing this gel to a streak-free finish. One word of warning work in small amounts and buff fast as it dries quickly. However once set it doesn't rub off on clothes that I have noticed. Fancy pins.
Bobs are happening - Nicole Richie bobbed up nicely this week, Karlie Kloss is killing her bob (pinned here) that she apparently hacked off her long locks on-set of a Vogue shoot after peer pressure from her HD. Good persuasion i would say. My lob has had the chop this week and is veering on bob, next trim in 6 weeks, I'm going full throttle, above my shoulders, dangerously near my jawline blunt bob yo.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - OK old news but my discovery of 01- Honey is a new one. Honey is a misleading name, this is rosebud/nude/slightly flushed natural lips. perfect for the everyday. Next on the agenda Sweetheart - the beautiful raspberry/peach.
Natural Instincts Micro Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 - natural, fragrance-free, mineral based sunscreens are notoriously tricky to find and I've struggled in the past. Being the nester I am currently I was determined to find one for bubby's pristine, delicate skin. I was enthralled to find this Natural Instincts offering. 4 hrs water resistant, no nano-particles, fragrances, mineral oils etc etc. Plus available in three sizes including a nappy/handbag friendly 60g size for a great price of $8.95. I'll be shopping the baby's stash and adapting for myself too for shizzle.
Natural Instincts Natural Hydrating Toner -While discovering the sunscreen I stumbled upon this all natural facial spritz, again at a steal of $4.95 and available in all those el cheapo chemist warehouse places. Rose water, orange blossom and witch hazel. Spritz with wild abandon, its practically free plus smells delicately of peaches somehow?
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Treatment Concealer, in Brightener* - OK so it looks like it has been through the ringer, granted there was a few skydives undertaken from the bathroom counter but the packaging is not the sturdiest from all reports. However I forgive it's brightening little socks, this is such a great under-eye concealer, so much so you won't catch me ever forking out for Touche Eclat or the likes again. Does the job, also great over lids as a primer/brightener. I like the sponge tip as you can just dab, pat, go. Blends well even with powder mineral foundation. I found my new shiny unbroken replacement again in el cheapo chemist warehouse for $9. Wandering aimlessly in chemists on maternity leave much?
Kosmea's back - I'm back on-board the Kosmea bus. Toot-toot! After a case of severe frenvy when I bought my buddy a selection from the range to help her poor dried out Roaccutane skin for her birthday I wanted my own stash. The relaunch of my all time fav SPF moisturiser that I awaited patiently for over a year to be released was the straw that broke the online camel consumer's back. Then I spotted the Nourish offer on the Kosmea site and was delirious; a Purifying Cream Cleanser, Hydrating Rosewater Mist, Skin Clinic Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil and the new Moisturising Lotion SPF 30+ - all full size for 75 bucks, for reals.. Added old fav muslin cloth that has somehow gone walkabouts and the Replenishing Moisture Cream and I had me a serious skincare regime for little over a hundy. Bargain. I'm tempted to go back fro the Glow option too.... save me from myself, someone....
Peaches season - millions of peaches, peaches, peaches for me, millions of peaches, peaches for free, moving to the country gonna eat me alotta peaches........latest craving keeps on giving. Peaches all the time, I had them BBQd with some parmesan and rocket & balsamic salad on Australia Day. I made these Baked Orange & Almond Peaches for a girls lunch dessert. I DIE. Or just straight up and masty sliced in a bowl. YUM. White, yellow, am indifferent.
Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel Top Coat - When I have been in the nail painting way for spesh occasions I've been using this topcoat and I am mighty impressed with the tenure it gives my paint. The new range of colours are great too from this range, keen to try more post Baby Wakely.
Speaking of which - Stuff what is cool - February will be solely about the arrival of Wee Baby Wakely, due in t-minus 4 days, on the 3rd of Feb. If all goes quiet on the bloggy front you know why......
Godspeed little bubby.
No doubt I'll introduce him/her to the world via Instagram @memybestandi so stay tuned
Now there is the wanting;
Hemp Seeds: Peer pressure is getting to me, all the cool kids are doing it - need to get back on the weed dude! This time it won't make me put on weight with chronic munchies (hello Dominos mercy calls at 11:30 pm, le oink!) It will be in the form of much healthier (but far less funnier Hemp Seeds. the new chia seed, hemp seeds are omega 3,6 & 9 and protein packed with all the essential amino acids. Bill Clinton is probably even game!
Daniel Sandler Watercolour Bush in Cherub - delightful name and word on the street is amazing longevity plus am like way obsessed with cheek tints. Benefits Posie Tint ain't doing it for me, not enough punch so I need a pinky flush in my collection. Lisa Eldridge recently used in a video and I was sold.Melted right in to her beautiful complexion.
Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Bronzer - reports are its sheer and glowy and feels cool on application to the skin s QED I need in my life.
And lastly the very impressive monthly empties round up. Using up before buying new - that's 2013's mantra
What's cool in your world right now?
