Saint-Tanorini

I feel as if my pale limbs have met their saviour. A missionary from an island off Greece that comes bearing bronzed gifts and promises of smooth, even long wearing natural golden limbs. All hail Saint Santorini Tan. My new tanning Holy Grail!!

A purchase influenced by many a good review I nabbed a bottle of the Santorini Sunless Tanning Lotion -and the Santorini Sun Tanning Face Cream online. Free shipping with a free tan-off mitt with my two purchases got me in the holiday mood!

The lotion comes in a spray bottle and is a thin mahogony colour liquid. Don't attempt to spray on to skin. You'll desecrate your bathroom and get brown dribbles running down your ankles. Messy, messy. I sprayed into a tanning mitt ( loving the new cheapy Le Tan one - $8 and more velvety than any I've tried).

Then simply swipe on, it's absorbed super quick and evenly. (My male back tanning assistant even commented on this before hand feeding me grapes and fanning me with a palm leaf, so its obvs very noticeable!)

No tacky residue either. I usually apply in the evening and sleep on it washing off in the morning by which stage there is a fake tan soggy cornflakes smell which washes away with the tint. The result a really even streak free tan that's as ample a colour as a spray tan would be on my skin but with no orange factor. I was amazed at how nicely this played in ankles, elbows, feet arches and other usual joints that don't play nice with le faux tan.
However as it is tinted I do mess up my sheets despite donning full length leggings and sleeves to bed. This is the very reason I do love Eco Tan as it never leaves any fake tan slug trail on sheets.

Here's an almost indecent shot from the morning after;

Oh lordy am I impressed with this stuff though. It is as close to godliness as they come - I'll quantify that bold statement shall I?

  • Easy to apply
  • Develops the least streak free of any DIY I've tried
  • Great depth of olive toned tan that rivals any spray tan
  • Wears like a dream. Apply on Saturday, fake your bronze all week and go again on Saturday. I didn't even need to use the tan-off mitt to de-scuzz
Now here is the deal clincher for me - 100% natural & organic. No chemicals or mineral oils or artifical BS here. The DHA is derived from beets. Plus added sweet orange oil (adds to the sunny scent) and green tea extract for a hit of moisturising antioxidants which no doubt aids colour development & wear.

A special mention to the Sun Tanning Face Cream. Facial fake tans I am wary of. I hate the cloying feeling and feel the clog my pores and cling to the oiler areas of my face (chin, around nose) but this is fabulously light and easily absorbed and non greasy. It is reassuringly non-comodogenic and with added almond oil and olive squalene so when I apply before bed I don't feel I need a night cream on top.

Saint-Tanorini, Santorini sunless tan at your altar of glowy heavenliness I will worship weekly. Amen.

Ps I'm throwing a stake in the ground here that I will travel to Santorini one day, look how beautiful that looks. Plus when I was 18 a fortune teller who has got heaps of stuff spot on since (told me I'd write for a magazine - Primped??) said I had to travel to Greece once in my life - there was something there for me. Perhaps he just foresaw this tan?

Have you tried? Are you a believer?

Been to Santorini?

Ever have a fortune told come true?

  1. haha I love it! Hillarity.

I use the Santorini Sun gradual tanner: highly recommended. I am quite an idiot when it comes to fake tanning: baby steps are needed, so I give up and usually just head to a professional haha!!

  3. I've been to Santorini, you must go it is spectacular! I have this tanner but I've never tried, I've been spending so much time in Darwin for work lately I don't really need to be using fake tans but I'm now tempted to give it a go!

    1. It seems to be an Aussie one alright but no doubt will make its way over eventually - Xen tan only landed here about 2 years ago!
